Weather in the Algarve
The Algarve boasts a fantastic all year round climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year, clear blue skies and hardly any rain to get in the way of the many outdoor activities the region has to offer. Strongly influenced by both the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas and its proximity to North Africa, you can expect to enjoy mild winters and long, hot summers in the Algarve.
Algarve weather in the Winter
The Winter months (November to February) are the coldest months of the year with temperatures between 9°C and 16°C, and you can expect some rain from time to time. In January and February you will find the Algarve countryside covered with a gorgeous blanket of white and pink almond blossom.
Algarve weather in the Spring
Spring is a great time to holiday in the Algarve and you will find that in May it starts feeling like summer has arrived, with temperatures of over 28°C in the sun. Between March and April the temperatures in the Algarve rise to around 18°C to 20°C in the shade and anywhere from mid 20's to 30°C in the sun.
Algarve weather in the Summer
The summer months (June to September) are the hottest in the year, and you will enjoy a good 12 hours of sunshine per day on average, with virtually no rain. The Algarve temperatures in the summer months can be as high as 35°C, but luckily the coastal breezes tend to make them feel a bit cooler. Night-time temperatures are normally in the low 20's.
Algarve weather in the Autumn
Autumn is a great season to visit the Algarve with the average temperatures slightly cooler than in the height of summer, keeping in the low to mid 20's in the shade and 25°C to 35°C in the sun. It is also not unusual to spot people sunbathing on the beaches in October and November! Golfers from all parts of the world choose the Algarve at this time of the year for their annual golf break.
