Vale de Parra, Algarve - Resort Guide

Vale de Parra, which means valley of the vines in Portuguese, is a tranquil residential area, 10 minutes drive west of the lively Albufeira resort. This is a great location for those seeking a relaxing holiday but wanting the convenience of having all the resort amenities within easy access.

There are a number of good restaurants and cafs in the area, including a Michelin awarded in Gal, however, a 10-15 minute drive will considerably open your options in terms of eating and drinking venues, to include some of the best places in the region. A handful of shops and supermarkets are also a short drive away.

Some of the Algarves best beaches are within easy reach of Vale de Parra, like Coelha, Loureno and the long stretches of golden sand at Gal. Behind the dunes, to the west of Gal beach, you will find the stunning Salgados Lagoon, a wildlife bird sanctuary, with over a hundred species. This nature reserve is surrounded by a convenient pathway, suitable for walking or cycling.

Salgados is the nearest 18 golf course only 5 minutes away, but within a 20-30 minutes drive, you will find some of the best golf courses in Europe, located in Vilamoura to the east, and in Alcantarilha to the west.

A 10 minutes drive north of Vale de Parra will take you to the charming village of Guia, home of the popular spicy piri-piri chicken restaurants, and the Algarve Shopping, a modern shopping centre with an excellent range of shops, cafs and restaurants. You can also enjoy the dolphins, seals or sea lions shows at the nearby ZooMarine ocean park.
