Pera, Algarve - Resort Guide

Pera is charming village located inland from Armação de Pera where the narrow streets and alleys are lined with beautiful whitewashed houses with colourful trims, dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. The village is conveniently close to the gorgeous Praia Grande and Armação de Pera beaches.

Armação de Pera, only a short drive away, offers all the conveniences of a holiday resort with ample options in terms of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars, and its beautiful sandy beach is one of the longest in the Algarve, stretching as far as Galé beach.

Considered the largest event of its kind, FIESA is a unique exhibition of sand sculptures held in Pera since 2003 between May and October each year. The sand sculptures are dedicated to a different theme each year, and are created by fifty national and international artists, covering an impressive area of 15,000 m2. Well worth a visit which is sure to entertain the whole family.

A short drive inland will take you to the charming village of Guia, popular for its chicken piri-piri restaurants, and the Algarve Shopping, a modern shopping centre with an excellent range of shops, cafés and restaurants. You can also enjoy the dolphins, seals and sea lion shows at the nearby ZooMarine ocean park.

Salgados is the nearest golf course, but within a 10-35 minutes drive, you will find some of the best golf courses in Europe, located in Vilamoura to the east, and in Alcantarilha to the west.
