Carvoeiro, Algarve - Resort Guide

Carvoeiro is family friendly costal resort, located a 10 minute drive south of the town of Lagoa, which also offers plenty of nightlife options, with many restaurants serving mouth watering local specialities, cafés and bars to keep you entertained.

A former whitewashed fishing village, Carvoeiro has grown over the years to become one of Algarve's most popular resorts whilst retaining its traditional charm.

Carvoeiro boasts a beautiful small beach sheltered by amazing cliffs, but you will find many more stunning beaches within a short drive, such as Benagil, Centeanes or Marinha. We also recommend you discover the spectacular Algar Seco, navigating your way through its amazing caves and rock formations. Many of the local fishermen use of their boats during the day for boat trips and will be happy to take you around the coast line and to see the caves.

Carvoeiro offers a local produce market and plenty of shops for your everyday needs. A few larger hipermarkets can be found in the outskirts of Carvoeiro, within a 5 to 10 minute of its centre.

For your shopping day out trips you can head east to Albufeira, where you will find the Algarve Shopping - the largest shopping mall in the region - or west to Portimão where Aqua Shopping, another large mall, is located.

Carvoeiro is also ideally located for family fun days out, with two water parks within easy reach - the closest being Slide and Splash in Lagoa, and Aqualand, slightly further away in Alcantarilha. A 15 minute drive east will take you to Zoomarine, a unique ocean theme park, which is a popular choice to keep the whole family entertained. The main attraction is the dolphin show and you may also pre-book the unforgettable experience of swimming with the dolphins.

There are plenty of sports activities available in and around Carvoeiro, from waterports, tennis, horse riding, and many first-class golf courses, to name but a few of the options.
